Market celebrates more than 50 years of showcasing products made, baked and grown in Alberta
Lethbridge, Alta. – Lethbridge & District Exhibition is set to unite the community once again in a celebration of local agriculture and producers as the Saturday Lethbridge & District Farmers’ Market, presented by UFA, returns on June 8. This year, the market will be located full-time in the UFA Hall of the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre, after moving into the new location for the last few weeks of the 2023 season. The Saturday market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday from June 8 to Oct. 12, except for Aug. 24.
Vendor applications are now open for anyone wishing to be a part of the market. The Lethbridge Farmers’ Market is the city’s only Alberta approved farmers’ market, which means at least 80 per cent of the market is devoted to products made, baked or grown in Alberta.
“The Lethbridge Farmers’ Market has been a staple for Lethbridge & District Exhibition since 1971,” says Paul Kingsmith, Director, Community Engagement for Lethbridge & District Exhibition. “It is core to our agricultural values, and helps to highlight the incredible farmers, producers, artisans and craftspeople in our region. With the Saturday market’s new home in the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre, we know it will be an exciting and enhanced experience for all visitors.”
Also returning this year is the popular Wednesday Downtown Lethbridge Farmers’ Market, jointly presented by Lethbridge & District Exhibition and Downtown BRZ. It runs from July 3 to Sept. 4 in Festival Square.
“We are thrilled to welcome back the Downtown Farmers’ Market for its 19th year,” says Sarah Amies, Executive Director, Downtown BRZ. “This collaborative event brings a sense of community, vibrancy and excitement to 6th street that just can’t be beat!”
Vendors interested in participating in the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market have a variety of options ranging from taking part in just a single day, all the way through participating in a full season.
For shoppers, the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market provides a large selection of fresh produce, drinks and food made from locally-sourced products, but goes beyond the traditional by also offering local meat, homemade baking, artisan crafts, handmade clothing and much more.
