Lethbridge, AB – The successful 2019 Whoop-Up Days shattered an all-time attendance record. Exhibition Park announces when the fair wrapped up Saturday evening, its 2019 attendance was 20% higher than the 2018 attendance figure and 3.3% higher than the all-time attendance record in 2017.
“2019 represented a major step in a direction we’ve been moving since 2017. Early indications are that this direction continues to be a positive one” Rudy Friesen, Chief Executive Office of Exhibition Park.
Visitors from Southern Alberta and beyond turned out in droves for the sunshine, fair food and the rocking Gas King Stage. Online ticketing proved to be a success representing 31% of total ticket volume.
Among the successful changes, the StagEX Music Festival brought in thousands of visitors to the community from as far as far away as Manchester, England; including multiple Visit Lethbridge Stay-and-Play packages filling local hotels.
“Exhibition Park had the vision to make Whoop-Up Days a bigger, tourism driven event. The success of the StagEX Music Festival really speaks to the investment in Entertainment”, says Mike Warkentin, Chief Operating Officer of Exhibition Park.
Exhibition Park is committed to bringing Lethbridge and the Southern Alberta region together through Agriculture, Entertainment and Commerce. As the region continues to evolve and grow, our ability to adapt to the changing environment reflects that commitment.
